Description

These Stuffed Pizza Rolls are made with soft, buttery, garlic herb rolls, then stuffed with marinara sauce, mozzarella cheese and your favorite pizza toppings. These make for a fun, tasty appetizer or party food, or you could easily pair it with a salad and call it dinner. I’m a firm believer that pizza night should be a weekly thing. So, add these to your list for your next pizza night. You won’t be disappointed. 🙂

Ingredients

Units Scale

Rolls

  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) instant yeast
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 cup whole milk (warmed to 110F)
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted, softened butter

Pizza Filling

  • Marinara Sauce
  • Mozzarella Cheese
  • Pepperoni Slices, or your favorite pizza topping

Garlic Herb Butter

  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon fresh oregano, chopped (or 1/2 teaspoon dried)
  • 1/2 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (or 1/2 teaspoon dried)
  • 1/2 tablespoon fresh thyme (or 1/2 teaspoon dried)

Instructions

1. To the bowl of a stand mixer, fitted with the dough hook attachment, add all ingredients for the rolls. Make sure you don’t add the salt directly on top of the yeast, as it will deactivate it. Mix on low speed until ingredients come together, then knead for 8 minutes on medium speed.

2. Place dough in lightly greased bowl. Spray top of dough with nonstick spray then cover with plastic wrap or a kitchen towel and allow to rise for 20 minutes.

3. Punch down dough, then turn out onto floured surface. Divide dough into roughly 12 equal pieces. Flatten the piece of dough with your hand, then add the toppings to the center of the piece of dough. Don’t add too much marinara sauce as it will leak out of the dough. Add marinara, mozzarella cheese and pepperoni, if desired. Grab the edges of the dough and bring together in the center over the toppings. Pinch the dough together with your fingers. Repeat, by grabbing edges of dough, then pinching dough together in center until the pizza toppings are entirely closed in the dough.

4. Flip the dough ball over and place your hand over the dough, rolling the dough ball to fully seal the bottom of the dough. Place rolls in a lightly greased 9xx13 pan. Cover with plastic wrap or a kitchen towel and allow to rest for 20 minutes in a warm place.

5. Once the rolls are almost done rising, preheat oven to 350F.

6. Whisk together ingredients for garlic butter. Brush over pizza rolls. Bake in preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until rolls are golden brown.

7. Serve with a side of marinara or pizza sauce and enjoy!
