Description
These Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies are an upgraded luxurious version of the classic chocolate chip cookies. The brown butter add a delicious depth of flavor to these cookies. These cookies have crisp, caramelized edges with a soft, thick, chewy center.
Ingredients
- 1 cup salted butter, browned
- 2/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
- 3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a medium size saucepan, add butter and melt over medium-low heat. Stir occasionally and cook the butter until it is a light golden brown. Remove from the heat and pour into a heat proof bowl or measuring cup. Allow to fully cool. To speed this up, you can place in the refrigerator.
3. In a large bowl, using a handheld mixer, or the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, add cooled brown butter and sugars. Add in eggs and vanilla extract and beat until combined. Add in sifted flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Mix just until combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
4. Chill cookie dough in the refrigerator for 20 minutes. Scoop by 6 tablespoon measurements (or 3 tablespoon for smaller cookies) onto prepared baking sheet, spacing cookies 2 inches apart.
5. Bake in preheated oven for 10-12 minutes. Allow to cool 5 minutes on baking sheet before carefully transferring to wire cooling rack.
